The Student Disability Access Center (SDAC) provides academic accommodations to students who request them, in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. In Canvas, time adjustments to Assignments and Quizzes can be enabled to meet SDAC requirements..
Moderate Quizzes for Extra Time
The instructor can give extra time to take a Quiz through the Moderate function. Partial screen shots are provided to illustrate where to begin moderating Classic and New Quizzes. Click on each link for a step-by-step process.
Once the quiz is published, Moderate will appear as an option.
If a quiz is published before its availability date, its name will be visible to students but they will not be able to click to take it or see questions.
Moderate is one of the options under Build.
Alternate Due Dates
When an assignment is created, the instructor can specify the availability and submission dates, which will apply to the whole class. These dates can be modified for one or more students who need accommodations.
The SDAC overarching mission is to support the University’s commitment to accessible education. Beyond the time accommodations provided in Canvas, another way to create accessibility is to caption media.
