How do I build multiple UVACollab course sites for my large course?

Updated on

You can use one Collab site that combines all sections/rosters of a large course, or multiple sites (one per section/roster). Learn about using one site for your large course: How do I build my Signature Course Collab site?

If you would prefer to have one Collab site per discussion section, here is the process you will want to follow:

  1. Create one site that contains all course content, activities, and assessments. Treat this as a "primary" copy of the course. Add your TAs as Secondary Instructors to the primary copy. Do not add rosters.
  2. Create the Zoom link you will use for lecture, and copy/paste the join information into the “Overview” section of the site. This meeting info will not be saved in “Online Meetings” in the duplicate sites, so you need to provide it to students in all sections.
  3. Make one duplicate copy for each discussion section (you or TA can do this, provided TA is made a “Secondary Instructor” on the site) and title it appropriately. In each new site, add the appropriate discussion section roster.
  4. Any assignments or exams will need to be re-published (not re-created) in each new duplicate site.
