How do I build an interactive schedule in my UVACollab site?

Updated on

Once you have set up your site, added your TAs, and input course activities using Collab tools (Discussions, Assignments, and Test & Quizzes), your site is ready to go. If you wish to take your site one step further you can integrate your course activities into a one-page "interactive schedule" using direct links.

The advantage of using direct links is that the instructions and the tools for completing the activities will be on one page (i.e., students will not need go to the tools on the left-hand side of the Collab site to find your assignments).

Creating an Interactive Schedule

  • Add the Lessons tool to your Collab site.
  • Click the “Add Content” tab in Lessons.
  • Select “Add Text” option to open the Rich Text Editor.
  • Click on “Templates” in the Rich Text Editor menu bar.

  • Select the “Activities Grid” option.
  • Fill out the form (Units, Topics, Activities) to fit your course.
  • In the "Activities" column, create a link (see video below) for each assignment to the appropriate item in Collab:
    • Highlight the text that you would like to convert into a link.
    • Select the “Link” tool in the Rich Text Editor main bar.
    • Select the “Browse Server” button.
    • Select the appropriate activity (Assignment, Tests & Quizzes, etc.)
    • Repeat for each activity.
    • Be sure to save at the bottom of the page.
