Create an Outlook Contact List to Email Your Students

You can create a contact list to email all students in your course using Microsoft Outlook.

Getting your Students' Email Addresses

  1. In your UVACanvas course site, go to your course navigation menu and select Photo Roster.
  1. Select Download Excel. This will download your course roster as an Excel spreadsheet.

Since there are a few different versions of Microsoft Outlook, the process for creating an email contact list varies depending on the version you're using.

Microsoft 365 Outlook (Windows Desktop Application)

If you are using Microsoft 365 Outlook on a Windows PC, you can use the following instructions to create an email contact group/list.

Outlook for Web and Outlook for Mac Users

Outlook for Web does not allow you to copy/paste a list of email addresses at once when creating a Contact List, and the current version of Outlook for Mac does not allow you to create Contact lists. If you are using Outlook for Web or Outlook for Mac, we suggest creating a Sympa List for your class email address.
